The prairie climate has four seasons. Saskatchewan has a continental climate with significant variation in temperature between night and day, and winter and summer. Summers are warm with long hours of sunshine and sporadic winds and rainfall. Winters are cold, snow lasts from December to March. Spring and fall are transitional periods between winter and summer. The highest rainfall occurs between April and June. Heavyweight clothing is required in winter.
